Position Summary:

To support the Food & Child Nutrition Services (FCNS) Department by performing meal preparation, service, cashier and cleaning duties at their designate school campus.

Maintains accurate record of meals served, monies collected, and record temperature of food, refrigeration and freezer equipment, as directed.

Follow high level of safety and sanitation standards.

Perform cashier, dish washing and meal serving duties as instructed by SNS Director.

Individual MUST BE a team player.

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED

Food Service Certification is needed but can acquired within the first 60 days of employment.

Experience:

Previous experience in a school cafeteria preferred but not necessary.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Demonstrates knowledge of the TDA and USDA guidelines in regard to National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.
• Manages the Food Service Operation to meet requirements in accordance with TEA/TDA/USDA guidelines for Texas.
• Follows safety and HACCP program in respective kitchen, following the county, state, and federal health department regulations.
• Cook and Serve meals to customers as directed by Cafeteria Supervisor ensuring correct portion sizes, meal requirements and time standards as established by department.
• Clean cafeteria and/or kitchen area which include wiping down tables, pick up trash, sweeping and mopping floor, cleaning equipment, putting trash cans in proper location and putting up cafeteria seating.
• Read labels and use appropriate chemicals to clean and sanitize equipment, work area and utensils
• Monitor and/or prepare Food Production Records as assigned by Director of SNS.
• Monitors and/or prepares accurate records to ensure counting and claiming of meals are accurate and that all funds are accurately accounted for.
• Ensure bank deposits of Food Service funds are made as assigned by the Director, SNS.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Note: Food Service Assistant/ Lead positions are assigned to a primary campus location but may be asked to work at various campus locations as needed, based on staffing demands.

Kitchen equipment. Personal computer, printer, fax machine, copier, and calculator.

Must be able to lift 35 pounds regularly. Must be able to stand long periods at a time. Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (30 minute lunch)

4 Day work week

Off every other Friday

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.75 - $19.00 per hour
